Always breaking clutch shaft pivot ball.

Guys, I need your help. Got a 72 swb with a small block/3 spd. It originally had an inline 6 w/3 spd. The thing keeps snapping off the engine block pivot ball. Stock pressure plate, original pedal and linkage set-up. This is the 3rd one in a year.

Is it greased?How is it lined up?Are the engine towers in the rearward 6cyl. position or is it all moved forward into the factoty V8 position.If the latter,the trans is forward 2 1/2" from original 6cyl. position and if the ball-pivot/z-bar is the 6cyl.stuff it`s prolly pretty cocked.There were offset mounts made for some applications and some pivots bolted direct to the block.Got pics?

if it is breaking the ball on the motor, it sounds like to much movement of the motor.

Everything sets nice and square, it greased and moves freely when you disconnect the lower linkage.

Engine movement? That would be the side that would raise up due to the torque of the engine. Wonder if the motor mount is busted. This is my kid's truck. I wonder if I'm getting the whole story here?

i see this same kind of thing in front wheel drive cars, kids drop the clutch which torques the motor and breaks a motor or tranny mount.i know i used to beat on my first standard when i was in high school.

The L6 Z-Bar is different from the V8 Z-bar. I think the tube part is longer on the L6 unit. Also the V8 clutch (upper) pushrod has a 45* bend in it, that the L6 pushrod doesn't. The V8 parts should be easier to find. They don't make the L6 pushrod anymore.
