Dakota Digital Anyone??

Has anyone installed a Dakota Digital setup in their truck? Is it worth while spending the money to get one or are they more of a novelty? I wonder how reliable they are. What are your opinions?

Re: Dakota Digital Anyone??

I have it, would go somewhere else next time, you would spend about the same amount anywhere else for custom set ups. i have an issue with my speedo that I need to fix, but everything works ok. Wasnt a big market when I bought it then, everyone is selling stuff now.

Re: Dakota Digital Anyone??

our eyes and brain work better/faster with analog gauges versus digital/numerical read-out gauges ... one of the main reasons GM did away with digital gauges in the Corvettes and returned to analog/hand-type/pointer gauges ... or so "they" say.

plus analog gauges just plain look cooler

I've got one in mine and love it. Lots of features, bright gauges and the check engine light (Words) helps with the LT4 I'm running.

Re: Dakota Digital Anyone??

I bought my '72 with one already in it. Everything works well except the clock. That problem may be due to a power supply issue. It looks cool at night, hard to read in daytime with the sun at your back. Mine has the transmission indicator unit as well. When I changed from column to floor shift I had to reprogram the sender. It was easy to do and still works great 2 years later. Would I buy one and install it? Probably not. There are too many cool custom analog units out there now.

Re: Dakota Digital Anyone??

I am thinking about getting a Dakota Digital dash but the sun glare on the dash has me second guessing the purchase. Does anyone have any pictures of the custom gauges?

By the way I renewed my membership for another year!!!
