Anyone have a GM extinguisher?

Hi guys - does anyone have a GM fire extinguisher like the one in the picture below? If you do - could you post some pictures of the text on the label? I can't afford $400 - $600 for a fire extinguisher..... So I thought I would try to make a "similar" label and put in on a new extinguisher. Something to do for fun I guess.

I think this extinguisher is the one used in 70-72 trucks.

Re: Anyone have a GM extinguisher?

I am looking for the text from the label of the fire extinguisher itself -- not the tag attached. Thanks though -- I may be ordering one of those from you in the near future.

Re: Anyone have a GM extinguisher?

I have one. The bottle and handle/gauge are exact but the label Is different. Label is tin and wrapped around the bottle. It is dated 64.

Well here is the finished product from the first trial run. Its not exact and a few mistakes to correct but overall not too bad for a first shot I think.

Re: Anyone have a GM extinguisher?

That could very well be. That label looks Soper nice. Did you make it yourself or a shop in town do it for you? This is how the label is on a 67 extinguisher tHai i restored..

Re: Anyone have a GM extinguisher?

I didn't have a shop do the label - I made it myself. I've done print design work in the past so I have some experience with it.

The label obviously isn't printed on the heavier tin/aluminum that the originals are done on. But it is a fairly heavy/thick metal type backing. Then I cut a clear overlay to go on as a final step.

I think 90% of people out there aren't going to notice the difference from an original bottle. Plus when putting these labels on a new bottle... you actually have a new ABC extinguisher that can save your truck!

Once I am done fixing all the small issues I will put them up for sale to anyone who would like to order for their truck.
