Front end pictures
Convince me that this is not a 68 front end with just a 70 grill insert. Looks like the grill center is just bolted in with some small machine screws.
Could you tell me the differences between the years?

Re: Front end pictures
That's not a 68 or a 70 front end. It is a 71-72 grill and insert. It also has the 71-72 front bumper as well.

Re: Front end pictures
It's a '72. The rear view mirror mounted to the windshield is the tell-tell sign.

Re: Front end pictures
It could be a 68 cab and frame with the later model front cap. Some folks like the 71-72 better or maybe that's the only good front end the guy could find when building the truck. Main thing is does the vin match the title.

Re: Front end pictures
Ok, title says it is a 68.
Carpet over the dash pad so I havent looked at the VIN to make sure I didn't got ripped off. Is thre another spot on the truck has has a VIN? You say it's a 71 grill insert, grill and bumper. Are the fenders and hood from a 71 or are they all the same? Thanks for all the help guys. I dont know much about these trucks. I know metric motorcycles. Lol

Rust in the cab to the left of the gauge panels, rusted firewall, some rust in the floor pans. Just pulled the wheels off and the left rear brakes have NO lining, just metal. Right rear brakes fell out when I pulled the drum off. Bought new shoes and a spring kit but the metal plates are ruined, so I need to find some of those.

Re: Front end pictures
Is there a plastic vent in the door jamb by the VIN tag? If not then it is most likely a '68 with a '72 clip.

Re: Front end pictures
If the #'s match you must have a 68 with a 71-72 clip....Whatever the case you have a great looking truck.....

dont know if I should sand it all down and redo everything or TRY and save the money for new sheetmetal. I've never restored a truck but have built several choppers so Im not an idiot when it comes to this stuff. I have a feeling this will be one of those 10 year projects. lol

Re: Front end pictures
whats the first 1/2 of the VIN? Just becouse it matches the title doesn't mean anything. I can tell the DMV here that my truck is a 69 and that's what they'll put on the title.

I guess I will stay with the 71-72 front clip but the core support and hood latch support will have to be replaced, they are both rusted out at the bottoms. I need to get my air compressor running right on a good circuit so i can start the body work.

Re: Front end pictures
Just so you know, you need to find a '69-72 radiator support, the '67/68's are different. And a '71/72 only latch support.
You might already know this, but since you where asking front end questions I'd thought I'd mention it.
