My truck is going Bye Bye
Well it looks as if my truck will be picked up within the next couple of weeks and taken to the body shop. It has been seven years since I bought the "Green Machine". It will take 4-6 months for the complete make over. The corn crib just wont look right with my truck gone. I guess this will be my Christmas present for the next 50 years. Now I got to figure how to hide my keys from 70cstjr.

Good for you 70CST. I'm sure it will make you smile many miles down the road when get it back in like new condition.
My 72 Cheyenne 4x4 that you were considering one time is going to a new home in Idaho. Now I have to get my 67 CST 4x4 finished to replace it. Mark

Re: My truck is going Bye Bye
I have had mine for 8 years, so the same feelings apply. It's now in the early stages of its re-do. Your time frame is probably right for me, too. I hope it's sooner, but.....I don't want to rush and he doesn't get in a hurry.

Re: My truck is going Bye Bye
I don't know if I could do that ? I may have to one day but it would feel weird to let someone else work on something of mine ? I had some exhaust put on one time but I was right there and watched , WOW I just thought about my 67 camaro NO WAY COULD I LET SOMEONE WORK ON IT !!!
I guess it's all in what you get used to , beside's if anyone worked on mine it would have to be for free I don't have any money ,,,, hope you guy's work turn's out good ,,,

[QUOTE=19673ontree;2480240]I don't know if I could do that ? I may have to one day but it would feel weird to let someone else work on something of mine ? QUOTE] I'm mechanically challenged! If I did my truck who knows what it would look like once I got done. I can do the basics but with two occupations...I thought I would let someone else enjoy the work of breathing new life into the 70cst.

Re: My truck is going Bye Bye
So, what color is it going to be painted. Is the body shop close enough that you will be able to document the progress?
I hope the body shop treats you well!

The body shop is about 1-1/2 hours from my house so I will do a build progress pics album. I am going to go with the colors that came on the truck when it left the factory as it's a more rare color combo. The cab will stay medium olive green and the bottom will be dark olive. Funny-when I was much younger I "hated" those colors. Now in my old age it sort of grows on you. I am going to improve the mechanics of the truck but keep the outward looks as close to factory as possible. I have already switched to five lug hubs and did a 2/4 inch drop. I will likely install a quick steering box plus add a cruise from Dakota. I am also leaning towards an over drive for the 400 tranny. Kurt has done rodstorations for over 34 years and built up a good reputation of putting out quality projects. I looked at a 57 he recently did and it was one impressive car. Selling price is $70,000...in case anyone one has 57G's laying around. Needless to say I WILL NOT have that kind of $$$ in my truck. My goal is a nice DD and not a frame off. As mentioned in another thread I purchased a 71 lwb bed take off from Kurt. This bed was removed from a GMC in 1972. As far as quality...The bed is a 9/10 if I was to rate it. Eventually I will give the truck to 70cstjr but until that time I will need to hide the keys.
