Re: Need help?
Specifically what parts are you after? Drivetrain and front sheetmetal etc is obviously the same as an AD truck. Other sheetmetal panels can be gotten from Wheelwright Restorations (http://www.oldgmctrucks.com/page0215.html) or you can often get help with used parts in decent shape from someone known as MotherTrucker (he frequents oldgmctrucks and vcca a lot).

Re: Need help?
Many of the vendors/sponsors here carry basic parts for that vintage. Other than that, lmc, jim carter, classicparts, classic industries, classic performance parts, brothers, steele, golden state parts, american classic, kanter, chevsofthe40s, the list seems endless sometimes.
Some items are harder to find however for Suburbans. Lots of the rubber can be found by cross referencing part numbers from the assembly manual with other parts from steele. And never ignore your local Napa, Autozone, Carquest, etc. You would be surprised what they have/can get if you're looking for stock parts. Last edited by robin58; 08-14-2009 at 09:50 AM. |

Re: Need help?
Get a factory assembly manual, they run about $25 and show everything including all the little clips, etc. routing of wires and other lines, critical dimensions, how the cabs and other parts are welded together. I was looking at mine last night to see how the factory applied caulking as the trucks were assembled so I can duplicate it. Also helpful when you have taken something apart 10 years ago and don't remember or did not document it, in my case the inner fender firewall brackets.
