Quick Question!!
This one should be easy to answer. I bought a new dash bezel and want to install it. My question is how do the headlight and wiper switchs come off . Do they just pull off from the front or do I have to crawl under the dash and push a relese button to get them off?

Turn your headlights on, then reach up under the dash and mash the button that is on top of the switch and finish pulling the nob off. Wiper knob is held on with a screw. May want to unhook your battery or the headlights might drain it.

also it is easier to turn the wipers to the on postion to get the little screw holding the knob on.

You should also drop the column down a bit by loosening the strap under the column to give you about 1 1/2" more clearence to reinstall the cluser without scratching the bezel. Randy

if you're going from a 3-hole dash to a vacuum dash, don't forget to rewire everything or you'll fry something

Thanks
Thanks for the good and quick responses.. I am just changing the bezel, not the gauges .. Should I still loosen the steering column if I'm just changing the bezel ?

absolutely it will make it so much easier. You have to take the cluster out of the truck to change the bezel anyway, and that's where the loosening it will come in handy, easier to get old one out and lessen the chance of scratching te new one. Randy

I wouldn't say it was dumb, they had to have room behind the bezel for the headlight switch and the wiper switch so the inner part of the cluster had to be smaller, no choice. there is 8 screws that hold the bezel to the rest of the cluster and the bezel is what hold it all in place with the 6 screws you can see from the outside. to undo the cluster takes all of 3 minutes, remove the knobs as we said earlier, unhook speedo, unplug the cluster, then unscrew the oil pressure line( if appliciable), remove the two screws that hold the u shaped plate to the dash where the column enters the dash to get to the bolt to loosen the column, then loosen the column and then remove the 6 screws that you can see from the outside and it will slip right out. reverse these instuctions exactly for reinstalling the cluster. It's really very easy and only takes about 30 min to get old one out and new one in. Randy

Another tip is to reach up and remove the top row of bulbs, they just turn a 1/4 turn and
they're out.
