gas cap, vented or not?
My gas cap went missing this past weekend and I will need to purchase a replacement.
I thought I remember reading discussions on here about vented and non-vented caps for different years but a search has found my nothing. Should a 69 GMC 1/2 ton with stock tank have a vented or non-vented gas cap?

Re: gas cap, vented or not?
Well a little google work and I think I answered my own question.
Scott Super Trucks lists two different gas caps. 1970 and earlier and 1971/72. Stant gas caps website also lists a different part number for 1971 and one. 1970 and earlier Stant 10623 1971 Stant 10704 Still not sure which is vented?

Re: gas cap, vented or not?
An educated guess would say that you need a vented cap, my 71 with EEC uses a pressurised non vented cap.

Re: gas cap, vented or not?
On non emission engines if you use the non-vented cap you take the chance of causing the tank to collapse.

Re: gas cap, vented or not?
67-70 stock gas tank = vented cap
71-72 (with EEC) 1/2 ton = non-vented cap All 3/4 ton trucks = vented cap
