What do you guys think of the wiring kits?

My wiring is pretty trashed and I need to re-wire my tail lights before I can get the truck on the road. I'll need to do my engine compartment pretty soon. I see a kit from LMC for about $700. Pretty pricey, but if it's all "plug and play" and easy to use, I might be willing to spend the money. Has anyone used this kit or a similar kit?

Anyone know if I can buy the kit and just use parts of it now, connecting into the stock harness, until I eventually replace all the wiring?

Does Brothers or anyone else have a good kit?

I don't have first hand experience in this department so this is just hearsay, but I think that the kits that American Autowire and Painless Performance sell are pretty highly regarded as good kits.

not exactly plug and play but the american auto wire classic update kit is a great kit. It updates the the newer fuses and add provisions for modern acc.

American auto wire is about $470 Delivered..It is 1 of the best.... I don't think anyone makes a direct plug in factory replacement.

I have used EZ wire harnesses before and have one to install in my 68 when I get to that point. They are very cost effective and a good quality product. Now, they are a point to point harness, not the plug and play type similar to factory.
Myself I prefer the point to point wiring with no connectors along the way. It depends on your preference and wiring abilities (the ez wire as well as the painless harnesses come with a very good set of instructions). The factory type harnesses with all the intermediate connectors will be the higher priced.

I find it hard to believe that no one has mentioned the guys I ALWAYS use. Specific to model, to connectors, and even down to the little gussets that fit in the wire run holders. Exact replicas by model.
And, if you do anything different with your wiring, they have what you need...Like a one wire for the alt, HEI adapter to their harness', etc.

*edit* BTW, that LMC harness you see at LMC is the same American Autowire kit that you can find on ebay for about $470. Just do a search on there for part number 510089.
