Sad Days Coming
My Youngest Son recently told me that he lost interest in Doing Restorations and also his 64 Chevy Shortwide. I am sad to report that tomorrow the truck is switching hands to a new owner near San Fransisco CA. My Oldest Son just moved down there (San Francisco) and I delivered his 69 LongFleet to him just a couple of months ago. Im currently Restoring a 67 Short Fleet and im going to put this Resto in overdrive as I am going to be out of a functional Older Chevy until I get it done. I have Owned this truck since 1998 and its really going to be hard to see it go!!! Im still in shock over my Son telling me he has completely given up on restoring old trucks or anything. I think this has something to do with the Female of the speicies (His Girlfriend), but what do I know? Here is a Recent Picture of it.

Re: Sad Days Coming
My second wife hates my truck, but there is a reason she is an ex to begin with, right?
Sad day, sweet truck. At least you have the memories and you had it a while to enjoy.

Re: Sad Days Coming
Beautiful truck, sad deal - if they don't get it, you can't make 'em.
My brother gave his son a '56 Bel Air that sits in the garage needing attention while the boy wrenches on Acuras. |

Re: Sad Days Coming
Ahhhh...
As he gets older he may change his mine. I have had my truck since high school. Me and my dad worked on it together..... Shoot fire.... We are still working on it together! He is a better welder and fabricator than me I have learned the Old School Cool ways of the Grandmaster. I am still the grasshopper!

Re: Sad Days Coming

he will come back around someday though and regret it. |

Re: Sad Days Coming
I knew of a kid that his dad restored him a 65 malibu ss, think it had a 327 4 speed in it but not sure, but the kid traded it for an eclipse, straight up. What a loser. Dont worry, i wasnt friends with him, I bought parts off of his dad.

Re: Sad Days Coming
You just cant tell which direction they are going as your bringing them up, some follow in righteousness and some falter. But either way, you have memories to cherish and the option to say I told you so later on.

Re: Sad Days Coming
Here is the thing I learned, If they really want it then make them pay for it and help them instead of paying for it completely. It means a lot more if they have more than just their sweat into it. Its funny that he was really into it on his and his brothers truck then when it came time to help me with mine he pulled chocks!!! Well I guess there is growing to do all around here including me!!! Its going to be a little harder to do things but thats part of the challenge. Keeps me Young.

Re: Sad Days Coming
If a woman is dictating things to him...he's lining himself up for a long and miserable life of being walked all over like a doormat. I told my girlfriend from the get go before we started dating not to make me choose between her and the things I enjoy, because I can always find another girl.
If/when I have kids, and if I give them a vehicle the stipulation with that will be that when the time comes that they want to sell it they offer to sell it back to me first.

That chick will be gone before he knows it, then he will kick himself for the dummy move. That red truck is a keeper.

Re: Sad Days Coming
Guess I am the lucky one .. My wife never ask's when I will be home ,never complains when I am out in the garage ,loves anything I love , old trucks included... now that is a wife I would not trade for a truck anytime.....She likes driving ol' blue so the 63's are going to be here for a while...... never asks how much I spent either... The last good one , and I found her !!!!

Re: Sad Days Coming
Thanks you all for the laughs. I need them and tomorrow is approaching fast!! I got to pick the guy up from the airport at 7:15AM. You want to hear something funny, this guy lives 15 miles from my Son that just moved to The Bay Area and I just took his 69 Long Fleet to him 2 months ago. So both Trucks will be within 15 miles of each other. At least my Oldest and Wisest Son still owns his truck.
