Good move man. I'd hate to see your truck go up in flames.
Very interesting treatment on the valve covers.. what made you go with blue instead of the normal chevy orange?

Re: okay boys got rid of air cleaner and fuel filter

on the topic of fire, I noticed that the home despot has small automotive oriented fire extinguishers for about $10. I decided to pick one up "just in case".

which brings up another topic: I assume those extinguishers can withstand enough additional pressure that leaving them in a hot car wouldn't be a problem, but I am not sure about this. I would sure hate to come home one day to find my interior coated in extinguisher goo.

Re: okay boys got rid of air cleaner and fuel filter

Thanks guys...valve covers...I went blue because of a pic I seen in a book and have a red white and blue theme...chrome edlebrock covers already started rusting....the vent is on the same side as filler in the back and hosed into the air cleaner...yes they are sleeves bought them at auto zone...Thanks
No baffles were need...oil fill had to be cut between first to rocker then us conduit fitting and bought cap at auto zone
fire ext. good idea!

Re: okay boys got rid of air cleaner and fuel filter

Looks great barepaint. Those foam triangle air filters are crap. I have friend that had a backfire and it almost burnt his car to the ground. Good to see you get rid of it. Is that a sealtight 90* connector for the oil fill?

Yep...Gota agree on the valve covers. They look great. More info on the oil fill please. What is needed to accomplish it?

Good lookin' motor!

I need to ditch my air cleaner too. I noticed a burn spot on the underside yesterday. It looks cool, but not worth the risk.

Re: okay boys got rid of air cleaner and fuel filter

Conduit elbow guys I believe 3/4 seal tight...locktighted the nut on inside thread in valve cover (pipe thread) there is a gasket on the outside...works great...got it from Lowes...just scavenge throw conduit fittings...Ground bottom outside rim flat with edge of valve cover...so it can't roll...cut whole between 1st and second rocker bottom edge of cover...I've got a patent lol....
