Need Help choosing Rim and Tires
Hi Guys I am new to this site and i'm sure you all sick and tired of this question which rim and tire set up will work?? Well i just bought a 1968 Step Side, currently it is a 6 bolt set up that i;m converting to 5 on 5 this weekend mostly because of the rim choices... The truck is lowered 6" in back and 4" up front. The rims on it now are Billet Specialty the front are 225/70/15 x7" wide 0 offset 3-1/2 B.S. Rears are 295/60/15 x 11" wide 0 offset 6" B.S. (the truck has been mini tubbed) I would like to go with the widest front and back set up, i would like to go with 20" x 10? anybody with some advice please chime in on what you have done or what i should do.. The first pic is from the tubbed area to the inner edge of the rear fender, second pic from ground to fender, the other is of the front...
Thank you!! |

Are the front 6 lug also? If so, how did they lower it? Cut springs maybe? That's an expensive conversion to do both front and rear, especially if it's already lowered. Maybe consider 6 lug wheels if you could find a set you like?

Yes the front is 6 Lug as well, looks like they installed a lowering spring kit, drop spindles and discs up front, I bought front rotors for a 72 c-10 going to swap out and the rear axle i'm having it welded and re-drilled..5x5

Re: Need Help choosing Rim and Tires
How are you converting the rear new reared or just new axles. I would go with a 295 40 20 on a 20x11 rear rim with the same ba then for the front I would go 20x8.5 5.5 in bs 245 45 20 tire

Re: Need Help choosing Rim and Tires
I'm also in the process of putting wheels and tires on my 68 fleet. I have a 6 inch drop in rear and 4 inches in front. I went with coy c5s 20x10 in rear and 20x8.5 front. I haven't got my front wheels yet but I'm doing 295/40/20 in rear and 255/40/20 front.

Re: Need Help choosing Rim and Tires
A 295 40 20 is almost the same dimension as what you have now since your truck is tubbed you'll have to measure how much room you have th work with to go bigger or wider. A 245 45 20 on a 8.5 rim will be a perfect match and many people run this size with a 4in front drop to fill out
