A big fat welcome to bleach (me) from bleach (me)...lots of questions.

Hey all,
I'm the new guy. I just bought a 69 C/10 4wd with a fairly good body. The engine and tranny works pretty well, but the transfer case leaves some to be desired. It's OK, but I think it's a little loose as it sometimes falls into 4wd. I do know it has no windshield wiper motor because I drove it over a hundred miles over the mountains from NC to VA where I live in the rain, barely being able to see...so if anyone wants to get rid of a wiper motor.....
This thing also had power brakes at one time, so I'm in the market for a master cylinder, booster, and associated neccesities. I'm waiting on my Chiltons bible etc to get mailed to me. I wanted to ask you guys a question..can you recomend any certain references? I need a parts interchange manual cause I know alot of the 73 and up stuff fits on these trucks, but I don't know which. I have heard that the 67-72 parts interchange manual is pretty worthless, in that it only mentions which parts are interchangable from within those years. Any other publications, ideas, thoughts?
I'm pretty new to this, just got a good job and could by a truck like this..I've always wanted one of these, never had the time or money. I have had some off road late model stuff (89 blazer, 97 ram) that I had lifted and ran into the ground repeatedly, but I'm really excited to get my 69. It has so much style and charachter. There is so much I want to do to it, it's crazy. Brakes and wipers first, then some rust spots.....I really want to do Tennman's gas tank swap too, get that thing out of the cab. Anyway, I'm really pumped to be a member and to talk to you guys, these boards are great. I look forward to talking to you guys.....I'm in Bristol TN/VA, by the way.

welcome from new mexico. first off your truck is a K10 not a c10. the c10 is the 2wd truck. and second this is the place to find almost anything about these trucks

Well, that clears some things up. I said C/10 because that's what it says on the side of this thing...so in other words I may have some non-original body panels on there..which would explain why I have no side marker ligts on the bed of this thing...I thought there should have been some there. If someone will tell me how to post pics on this mug I'll try and get a couple on here tonight. Me and the truck are very far away as I'm right now in Indy for work but have a few on the computer.

My Kingsport man, tis good to know someone on the board is close. I actually don't even know how to PM anyone yet either, working tonight on figuring out how to work the board efficiently. Perhaps you can fill me in on that way. I'm on dial up right now and it's pretty slow going....painful.

Welcome aboard.
As far as the "C/10" emblems go, I'm not sure I've ever seen a K/10 or K/20 fender emblem -- just the K/5 for Blazers. (Actually I did see a "K/10" once on a Suburban, but it looked custom, modified from K/(5) and (C/)10. GM is big enough that they may have turned out a number of 4x4 trucks w/o the right type badges. The C/10 badges are available aftermarket, but no K badges other than K/5. Dosen't mean it's the last word, though.
As far as the side markers: '68s and some early '69s have no electrics in them, just the reflectors. It wasn't til '70 or '71 they put working lights on.
I know cuz a cop once tried to issue me a defective equipment ticket on my '68 since my markers were "burned out." I tried to tell him it was a '68 and they weren't lamped, but he said his brother-in -law had a '72 and it looked just like this one, so it must be a '72. Can't argue with the law, I guess.
'67s had no side markers at all [one year only] and it looks like your bed is from a '67.

Thanks for the welcome pickup man, yeah you could help me out with something...I need a good interchange manual like I mentioned in my post. Got any ideas? I need something that shows I guess 67-as new as possible. Like right now I'm looking for a brake setup, master cylinder, booster, linkage, etc...and I don't know if I could use the stuff off say a 74 truck or something. Any ideas? Author, title, ISBN number?

As far as the brakes go for a straight bolt on the booster and linkage from 67-72 will work. For master cylinder you need to keep it drum/drum which is 67-70. I put a booster on my 70 using the same m/c, I just unbolted it from the firewall, slid the booster in between (had to stretch the brake lines a little) and hooked it all back up.

See! I'm learning already! This is why I'm on this board. I think I just need the booster and linkage...well, whatever you need when the master cylinder is already there anyway, here is a pic underneath the hood, so you tell me. As you can see from the pics, I think I have lots of different years of sheet metal on there. You guys devour these and tell me what I've got and what I dont. As I said, the title says 69.

the only difference between a c/10 an a k/10 is that k/10 means you have a 4 wheel drive truck...

Welcome. As mentioned above yes your truck is actually a K10 but they were always badged as C/10 - the only vehicle that was badged with the K was the Blazer and all of them are badged K/5, the 2wd Blazers were not badged C/5.

Your transfer case should be the Rockwell T221 and you can get some parts for them still but they are rather expensive. Here is a pic of what the rear side of the T221 looks like.
