Question FLOWMASTER 40 series

I'm about to run a NEW set of dual exhaust on my truck. I have the pipes dumping in front of the tires now. If i change the exhaust to exit behind the tire " would there be a different sound"? the mufflers will be FLOWMASTER 40's

Re: FLOWMASTER 40 series

Yea from my experience it will just be deeper, but i would not run flowmasters because they sound great and all but they are the more restrictive choice, if i were you i would run a good set of cherry bombs, thats what i run and i cant keep myself from flooring it

Re: FLOWMASTER 40 series

The further you get the exit from the driver the quieter it is in the truck, but it won't really effect the over all sound. 40's are good mufflers, but are agressive in sound and can be loud inside the cab. If you have them already or want them knowing the sound, cool, if not the 50's series are a good blend, raspy sound, but ,mellower inside at cruise.

As far as restriction, the flows don't really have any, unless of course you compare them to a piece of pipe, or a cherry bomb in this case. Two entirely different things, comparing flow to bombs is like comparing apples to mack trucks. Honestly any muffler choice is a personal choice, but to campare as far as perf goes, I doubt you'll have much like proving one is better than others, since restrctions on the exhaust do not mean more or less performance (unless we are talking stock emisions era vs aftermarket bolt on exhaust)on every vehicle. Some restriction (backpressure is needed).

Re: FLOWMASTER 40 series

If you are trying to decide on a muffler, you can hear sound clips from most of the manufactures web site's. As for the opinions, we all have them and well let's just say you'll get all kinds of suggestions, find a sound you like and get those.
