1972 3/4 ton 4x4 Big Block Mounts (HELP!)

Hello all. I have a 1972 3/4 ton 4x4 with a tired and leaky 350sb in it. I have a rebuilt 472bb that is going to take its place. Here are my questions.

1. How do I mount it to the frame?
2. How far ahead do I need to move the engine for HEI?
3. Will the mounts and clam shells out of a 73 and up 4x4 with a big block work?

Any help is appreciated since I am lost on what to do at the moment.

Use the OEM small block engine mount setup. move everything approx 2 1/2 inches forward in order for the valve covers and HEI to clear the firewall. (you can leave it all in the stock location if you do not mind clearancing Hammering) the firewall for the HEI and valve covers).
The down side of moving it all forward means dealing with different drive shaft lengths, shift linkage etc,

I prefer moving everything forward. I prefer to not use the small block mounts and stands. Will the two wheel drive towers from a 1972 or the 67-71 work? Or could I just use some clam shells and mounts from a 73 and up 4x4 that had a big block in it? Thanks.

The 2wd towers will not work. A 4x4 uses a "cradle" from frame rail to frame rail. You will be fine using the small block setup. That is what most people do. I think there is a company the makes a conversion, but i don't know anything about it.

Use a DIY crossmember/engine mount combo for 4x4's. That's what I used on my '72 K25 big block. See my build thread in my sig for pics.
