Finally found a home for my black steering wheel...

AND my K20 PO3s! Been looking for one that "met my needs" for a long time as some of you are well aware. Many thanks to Ken (52napco) for helping me make this deal. Had to take a break from chasing the stray trons and clean it up. Been saving these caps and the steering wheel for years... ha. Truck had a rather uninviting seat cover when I bought it, found correct custom cloth underneath. Some rips in it, but it's much nicer than the JC Whitney cover it had. Anyway, thanks again Ken, was a pleasure working with you on this deal and also with Brad in Colorado. Needs lots of work and some TLC, but near term goal is to get it back on the road and eventually do a full resto. It's a 557 (med olive top) two tone truck.

Great find. You hit a home run.

Did you faint when you uncovered the original seat cover ??

Did you buy a lottery ticket that day ??

Ha, I should have! I peeked under the passenger side and saw it was in good condition, but assumed the driver's side would be toast. Much to my surprise, it wasn't. Aside from the minor cuts in the pic, there is a vertical rip where the custom cloth meets the vinyl, kinda where a driver's right elbow would hit the seat. That will get worse, but I will replace it someday and enjoy it in the meantime.

Re: Finally found a home for my black steering wheel...

Here's what it looked like on day 1. Just needed a little elbow grease and some minor additions to perk it up. Steering wheel had disintegrated and was held together by electrical tape. BY the way, I do NOT recommend Swamp Fox shippers out of South Carolina. It was a bit of a nightmare, pretty unprofessional. I always prefer to work directly with a shipper, but went with Montway Brokers - they were good, but once the ticket is cut, they have no control over the truckers they hire. I'm on the fence if I'd go with Montway again, considering they hired laurel and hardy to deliver the truck. But oh well, don't foresee shipping anything else any time soon. But I've said that before too..

Re: Finally found a home for my black steering wheel...

I feel your pain about shippers.

Not to de-rail the thread but I had a horrible experience getting my 72 k20 shipped from MI. Two guys with 4 teeth between the both of them showed up at 11pm to drop it off. No walk around, just pay me so I can leave. Needless to say thrre were plenty of issues. Now on my 71 GMC I just bought, I got the run around for over a week by a crappy company called Direct Dispatch who would never call me back and missed two pickup dates. I dropped them and now I have a company called United Road doing the delivery for me. I swear if I buy another one Im driving out and getting it myself.

Sorry to rant....lol. Again, I love the wheels man!
