Front carpet strips: let's figure this out
I'm curious if there is any rhyme or reason to the use of the differing styles of front carpet strip. One style is the " ribbed" strip that was also used as the rear carpet strip. The other style is "flat" with a sort of chamfer along the front edge at about 45 degree angle. Borrowed example pics attached.
For those owners who are reasonably certain they have the original front carpet strips I'd like to know: 1) model year 2) factory (Flint or St Louis) 3) double or single wall top if a 1972 model year I've got: Flat - 1972 Flint 1x wall Ribbed - 1972 St Louis 2x wall

Re: Front carpet strips: let's figure this out
Thanks for starting this thread Pete. As you know I spent a lot of time trying to get to the bottom of this and have posted on it before. My anecdotal position became that all combinations left the factory..(front flat/rear rib, front rib/rear flat, FF/RF, FR/RR)...and that the rib style entered the mix after the flat style, i.e. I would expect a 69 to most likely have front and rear flats. But I have no data to back this up. Hopefully this thread will help collect the data to get to the bottom of this.

Re: Front carpet strips: let's figure this out
I have a St. Louis 1970 Jimmy Custom (CST) that has been in the family since 1971. It has the flat style front and rear. I have a ribbed strip that came from the rear of a parted out 1972 Jimmy that had a double wall top. I don't know what the front one was in that truck or where it came from as the tub had been torched into several pieces when I got some stuff from it. I know you want front info but felt the ribbed one was worth a mention.
