shot some satin black today
trying to give my truck the old school hot rod look
going to sand and spray again want it as smooth as i can i think the red gloss will pop against the satin black what you all think |

plans are to drop the front raise the back be old school black with red int pipes out the sides and craigers for wheels it has 350 and b&m ratchet shifter readers msd eldlbrock carb intake five bolt power steering power brake front disk all trim and emblems shaved off front bumper bolts shaved relocated tank etc

I'm sure there you can clear it, but the satin black looks good all by itself, keep the pictures coming.

In my experience with satin paints they will eventually fade & some will chalk up unless cleared, especially if parked outside in the sun. I did a buddies PT Cruiser that was two-tone satin black over satin orange. I initially had issues with the black and was told by Hot Rod Flatz that a flat clear over it would take care of the problem. So I cleared just the black but not the orange, because the orange turned out great like it was.
Fast forward some 4 to 5 years later, the orange faded pretty badly & chalked up in places, the black, with the flat clear, looks amazing. Looks just as good as it did the day after I shot it. The car was parked outside it's entire life in SoCal sunny weather. I'm sure others have had other experiences with different colors & different weather, but this was mine. If it is something you want to look nice for many years, put a flat or satin clear over it to protect it, you will thank me later. |
