Swapping manual to power seats
hey i was wondering if anyone could help me?
I have a 2007.5 new body style chevy 2500hd silverado LT truck it has manual seats in it but i got some heated power seats out of a 2008 chevy silverado LTZ to put in my truck. the passenger seat pluged right in and the driver seat wont. My truck has 4 wire for the driver seat and the new seats has 14 wires and i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to hook it up. i have looked all over the internet and youtube and i can't find anything on how to hook it up or a wiring diagram on it. Thanks Adam Last edited by adammoore; 09-17-2014 at 05:26 AM. |

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
4 wire plug has hot and ground and 2 small wires for the seatbelt buzzer
14 wire plug has the same 4 wires, the rest are for seat heat and memory functions unfortunately the memory functions require a new body module to operate hook the red/white to red/white and black to black to make the seat work tie the seatbelt buzzer wires together at the plug as for the heated seat... your on your own

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
Thanks for your reply.
I hood the red/white to the red/white and the black to the black and it wouldn't do anything. Someone told me that I would have to hook up more than just them two wires. But he didn't know what color wires all had to be hot (+) or (-) |

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
Does the drivers seat have memory in it. Most people have no luck getting the memory seat to work..

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
Yes but I'm not wanting to hook it up. All I'm wanting to do is to get it to move. I'm also trying to find a switch for the dash so the heat will work to but that will be later. I'm just wanting it to move up, down, back and froward

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
post a pic of the under seat wiring
there may be a relay box that you need to bypass should just be 2 wires into the switch

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
Hey I went and got a car battery and brought the seat and the battery in the house and hooked the red, orange and lite blue wires together and hooked them up to the positive (+) and the black wire to the negative (-) on the battery and it did not work
Do you have any more suggestions? Thanks |

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
I was perusing a factory diagram for the seat circuit and the actual relay controls inside the module are wires labelled A through H. But, the relays inside appear to be of a solid state design requiring a 5V reference signal to actually move. I'll do a little more research into it for ya....

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
your going to have to do some work
regardless of how many wires and sensors you have for the memory, the seat still has 3 motors and a switch all the other stuff is just stuff. stuff that needs to be cut out and thrown away the easy way would be to look at the passenger seat and hook everything up similar to the pass seat the switch should have 8 wires coming out; hot, ground and 6 wires, 3 pairs for each motor each motor has 2 wires that need to be hooked to the switch not sure if the drivers seat switch is rated for motor loads like the pass seat switch is you could just set the pass seat in a good spot and transfer the wiring harness and switch over to the drivers side

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
I put 01 Cadiliac 8 way power seats in my 68 and that's the ones I had to use and the plug on your seats looks very similar I will try and get some pics of the wiring

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
Ok thanks but hey it was worth a try! I don't have the seat in my truck yet I'm just using a car batterie. That should work right? I don't think the seat should have to be grounded anywhere since I'm hooking the black wire to the neg. (-). Do you know if that's right ?

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
Ok. Do you think I have a bad seat? I looked at the passenger seat and it only has two wires and they are red with a white line and black

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
My passenger seat had 6 or 8 wires and it worked fine, but the drivers had about 200 wires. I was told by 2 good chevy mechanics that the only way to get them to work was to rewire the whole assembly and bypass all the computer stuff. so it was a lot easier for me to bring them back and look for a non memory set

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
I just took the lrg red hook to 12v + and lrg black to 12v- then started adding wires to the + side till the seat moved then started removing other wires till it stopped moving and those are the ones you need for your seat. I used a jump box for testing. All functions work and they are memory seats that I have.

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
probably not a bad seat, it's just going to take some work to get it operational
if that is above your skill set then try to take it back realistically you have 3 motors with 2 wires each figure out how to hook up 2 wires to a motor to test it

Re: Swapping manual to power seats
I guess I had a bad seat! They let me bring it back and they had a lot more seats come in and we found one that would plug right into my truck and worked fine.
I would like to thank everyone for y'all's help!!! Adam |
