5.3 guys I need a little help!

What all is involved in taking the plastic intake off of a 2000 5.3. I have never worked on one of these engines. I am having to replace the camshaft sensor & the guys cousin broke it. So the only way I can see to get to it is to remove the plastic plenum/intake. I'm just wandering what I am about to get into.

Re: 5.3 guys I need a little help!

disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel rail, unplug the injectors (or move the fuel rail out of the way)

disconnect the TB
remove about 8 - 10 bolts.

There is no water in the intake.

I thought the camshaft position sensor was on the back of the block, and accessible without taking the manifold off (oh.....I guess if it's on an engine stand)

It's pretty straightforward as Ack says. The "dry" system the LS motors are built on make it pretty simple and "clean".

Thanks guys! It was real simple to work on. I was just a little nervous because it was something new.
