Or what years will work for me?

Re: Power Steering

'77-'79 2WD Chevy/GMC trucks, 1/2-ton thru 1-ton. 4WD won't fit.

Re: Power Steering

make sure you get the pitman arm with the gear box, when I converted my 73 with a 76 gearbox the pitman was different, but not hard to change, with a pitman arm puller. lol. bob

Re: Power Steering

I'll ask my question in here since it's somewhat related.

Is there any steering box out of anything else that I can put in to give a tighter ratio? Meaning less turn of the wheel to go around corners, etc.

Re: Power Steering

I had a manual box in my 73 six cyl. and my donar truck was a 76 with a v-8, and the box bolted right on, but the pittman arm spline that connects to the steering linkage was slightly different, wich was no prob. other than going down to your favorite parts store and buying a pittman arm puller for about 11 dollars. get the larger of the pullers as our trucks requires.. I've heard of some people hammering and prying these off w/o the puller, but I think that would require a lot of blood and cussing for the money. got to tell you that the thing is unbelievably nicer to drive with power steering now. lol bob
