brake problem

hi, i have 69 cten with all four wheel drum brakes new master cylinder, wheel cylinders pads...etc. i have all new parts except for the booster. the pedal goes almost to the floor. and i just cannot figgure out why. there is not one air bubble in the system... no leaky bleeder screws, wheel cylinders or kinked lines... im thinking it has to be the booster???? any help would be great. thanks...

Re: brake problem

Can't see how a bad booster would contribute/allow the pedal to go to the floor...
Did you just add the booster to the system or was it there before all the brake work?

Re: brake problem

Have you adjusted up the shoes?
Does pumping the pedal help?
If so, does the pedal drop back down as you hold it for 60 seconds straight, or will it stay firm?

Re: brake problem

Make sure the MS is the same as you took off (Delco-Bendix, etc.) The depth of the back maybe differant so that the push rod coming out of booster has further to travel. This rod can be adjusted.

Re: brake problem

Also the m/c bore size make a huge difference in pedal stroke

Re: brake problem

Did you bench bleed the master before you installed it. If there is air in the master cylinder you can bleed the brakes forever and the air in the master will just stay where it is. Just something to check out.

That's not really true.
It's still agood idea to bench bleed, but I gravity blead a complete new brake system aver week or so, and when the master gets bolted up, it is bone dry.
