Found a flatbed

I was planning on building my own flatbed for the 70 C-30 but my son called me the other day and said he saw a 8' x 10' bed in a local salvage yard. I went by there and coudnt believe the condition this old Giant brand bed was in, someone had recently put a new floor in it, got it for 150 bucks.

Too bad you didn't live a little closer I'm trying to give away my 8X10 flat bed and still no hits. I bought the 72 GMC for the sheet metal. Well I guess the old bed will get cut up and I'll get the money for scrap metal out of it.

Gloryhound...hold onto it or list it on Craig's list (craigslist.com). Somebody will be needing it. I looked for one for my '68 C30 before I sold the truck to oldiron. Someone is going to need...trust me on this one! It is kind of a pain to keep things around especially if you like to keep the place clean.

Blazerman, I would do the flatbed in body color and pinstripe in white like your roof...just my 0.02. I have seen flatbeds in the car shows and when they do the bed in the body color it just ties everything together.

Its a shame no one is close enough to get it from you, is it a wood floor bed?
I think with the price of steel these days someone would want it, I figured it was going to cost me 800.00 just to frame and sheet one if I were to build it myself, that didnt include a headache rack or rear apron.

Steel floor but it would not be hard to convert it to wood. it does not have a headache rack and it would take a little work to make it look presentable again, but hey when you offer something like that for free what can they expect!

Nice deal Blazerman, I think the new wood and mud flaps are worth the $150 alone.

Gloryhound, I saw your ad, and if you were closer, I'd be hauling it back to Wisconsin in a heart beat.

I like it! Definitely reproduce the lettering and pinstripping. I wouldn't normally say that, but I really like the way that bed looks.

Nice find Rob. That should look much better that the "homemade' bed the truck has on it now. I like the old look of that bed. Let me know when you get it done. Have fun!!!

situations changed and now I will be able to restore one. I had wanted a short bed all along and I though if I sold both of the others I could afford one. But I found a SWB in west virginia for $300. The Cab and front end are shot but the bed is OK. So now both the other trucks are getting stripped for parts. If someone had a good front 67 or 68 chevy clip I would trade the 1 - ton for it minus the engine since I already promised it to my brother. But it would have to be really good since the 1-ton has a clear PA title.

Blazerman: You need any dually specific parts for that 70 GMC Dually let me know. I'm stripping my 72 for parts for my 71 swb so if the part is specific to the dually I'd be able to give you a good deal since I won't be using it.
