i was thinking about changing gmc front to a chevy front .what would i need to change.i have a 67 gmc.

On the pics you have there, pic 1 is a 71-72 style. Pic 2 is a 67-68 style.

For the 71-72 look hood, hood latch, grill, fenders, and core support, basicly the whole front clip. For the 67-68 look I think you can still use your GMC hood and fenders, but you will need grill and core support for sure...

no core support needed. just modify yours (remove quad mounts) for the twin light setup and change out the grill support and grill with a '67-'68 Chevy's. I did the same thing to my '68 GMC.

I am a big GMC fan (owned GMC's 6 to 3 over Chevy's) but out of all the many generations of Chevy/GMC trucks, the '67'-72 trucks are the only series of GMC's that I actually prefer the Chevy grill on.

As far as 4 lights vs 2...I find I drive (at night) the majority of the time with just my low beams on. And the larger (7"?) pair of lights seem brighter then the old smaller (5.75"?) quads. Then I replaced my bumper with one that also has halogen fog lights that do a great job of adding some "white" light... to the stock off-white or "yellow" lights.

why change the horn button (or tailgate for that matter)? unless you want to change the whole truck to a Chevy. For me it was just the grill...if you notice I'm running the GMC centers.

My old grill was in bad shape but I do have the headlight stuff (minus the bucket brackets for the core support) and the filler panel that goes between the grill and hood....as well as the original steering wheel and horn, and a few other things...that I would sell.

If you keep the tailgate GMC, and the hubcaps, horn button, console emblim, glove box badge, fender badges... but put a chevy nose on it, it just looks stupid, and many people NOT into the truck hobby will notice it, let alone any truck fanatic you may come up on.... and like that, it just looks like a hodgpodge of mismatched parts.

well let's not hold anything back...please tell us how you feel!

So I guess that means you think my truck looks stupid. I think you might be surprised just how many people outside of this forum wouldn't know the difference one way or the other, couldn't guess the year or would guess a year outside of the 67-72 window, and would probably just think "nice old truck". The reality is that my truck is a GMC. A grill, badge, "emblem" or tailgate isn't going to make it anything different, just "look" the part maybe. Title still reads the same. Either way, I don't think everyone that changes the grill on a GMC is trying to make a Chevy out of it...just like those that take a Chevy and put a GMC front clip on it probably aren't trying to make a GMC out of a Chevy.

When my "hodgepodge" is complete, it won't have a Chevy or GMC emblem or badge anywhere... but it will have a custom chassis, custom wheels, a custom drivetrain, custom interior, and it may have the current grill or might even have a custom one of some sort....but it'll still be a GMC.

I'm just glad I'm building my truck to please my taste....and no one else's!

I didn't mean it personaly, just speaking from experiance.
My old man, is about as far removed from bring a car guy as one can be and still have a pulse. I remember him pointing out a green 67/68 truck when I was a kid. It was bright green, and had a chevy nose, and a GMC gate. He noticed it.
Then, when I was converting my one ton from chevy skin to GMC, I got comments about once a week that I should fix it and make it all GMC,or all chevy.


However, I do agree that it is your truck, and you should do it however YOU want. Don't let me or anyone else tell you otherwise.
My longhorn IS a total mess of parts from a thousand trucks and cars, and it's painfully obviouse. hodgepodge is one of MANY adjectives used on a regular basis to describe that steaming pile. So please don't take it as an attack against your truck, in al honesty, your truck is one that I have always wanted. A short step is about as sexy as these trucks got.
