steering box question
does anybody know if 73 and up steering boxes are the same as our 72 or were i can buy parts. thanks

If i remember correctly they will work up to 78. Then they changed the pitman arm design

well, to be 100% acurate, they are not the same. The later ones are variable rate while the older ones are fixed rate.
However, the replacements ARE the same up to 76 or so, after that they went to metric fittings and o rings. |

Yes, all 68-87 will work, but as Andy mentioned (around 80/81 is what I remember) they went from SAE thread flared fittings on the hoses to metric thread o-ring connections. They make adapters so you can connect an SAE line to a o-ring/metric fitting and vice versa. Pitman arms only differ between power and non-power boxes. Also, as Andy mentioned the 73 and up had variable rate steering and quicker turning ratio's than our years. The 67 was way different from the others and I cannot for the life of me remember what made them so different.
