vortec 4.3 starter on my 72 350

I was at a local engine rebuild shop picking up a buddies rebuilt 350 and when I went to start my truck, It took a while to start (heat soak in the starter). An engine builder came out and we discussed the problem. He said that he uses a smaller starter from a 4.3 mid-size blazer. He said that it cured all of his hard start problems with his 69 427 camaro. What do you guys think about the swap? Do you think that it would have the same terminals as my current starter (direct swap)?

Re: vortec 4.3 starter on my 72 350

Not enough info. Chevy has two different flywheels, 153 and 168 tooth. Either can be on either of the engines you are comparing. The inline starter bolts are for the 153 and the offset are for the 168. Then there are exceptions to these. We have replaced a lot of the old big starters with the newer gear drive small ones and they are great. Different year blazers even have different starters listed. More info and I can help ya. DanO

It will work. I have put 4.3 starters on a v-8 motor before. Jim
