Bedside Installation Question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I completely disassembled my short bed to install new bedsides and wheel wells. At the moment it's down to the bed floor. Tomorrow I will clean it up and try to complete the install.

When installing the bedsides do I need to use seam sealer where the metal meets the floor? There didn't appear to be any when I removed the sides. I thought it would help keep down creaks and keep out water. The wheels wells where sealed with something that rotted away.

I didn't use anything in between. There was nothing there when I took the bed apart. My truck will always be garaged from the weather.

There is no way I'm driving my truck in a Texas rainstorm. Not after all the work I will have in it.

Looking at how the metal joins it seemed like a good idea.

Probably a good idea to use that clear silicone sealer stuff. JMHO.
