Let's see those Bench Seats Redone
Well I got one of the best b-day gifts I could ask for....my interior redone! I see alot of guys going to the buckets but I want to keep my bench but dont want the old style bench look. So if you've redone your bench seat please post up some pics. I have an idea of what I want....but as I explained to my girlfriend when she took me to the upholstery shop yesterday, I HAVE TO THINK ABOUT THIS!! BIG BIG DECISION!!
THIS IS WHAT MY INTERIOR LOOKS LIKE NOW

THIS IS WHAT I"D LIKE MY INTERIOR TO LOOK LIKE--- but I have no arm rest in my seat, and a 90-94 Chevy Seat like this is $400 at the damn junk yard so Im going to nix the arm rest but still leaning toward something like this....
So if you've got a nice bench help me out please..... THEN MY NEXT DILEMA IS, GREY OR BLACK INTERIOR?!?!? |

Re: Let's see those Bench Seats Redone
Your interior looks fine the way it is, but may I suggest a 5 gallon bucket, I have one and its great, not very comfy though
My seat, dash pad, and visors are a tan corduroy. Its kinda nice really, but I didnt' like it at first. I like the choice of interior you have picked out, looks great. |

Re: Let's see those Bench Seats Redone
I saved this to my hard drive. It was described as a stock bench with the foam & cover rebuilt to create this look. I love it.

Re: Let's see those Bench Seats Redone
Before these trucks got real popular and pre-made seat covers were affordable, I decided to have my seat recovered. My dad worked at the St. Paul, MN Ford assembly plant for 42 years. He had a pal there who fixed interiors that got bunged up on the line. He was good. He had to make repairs that were perfect because people were buying new product. Anyways to make a long story short I asked him to do a seat cover for me. Since the houndstooth inserts were unknown to me at the time I picked up a green material at an upholstery shop that used to be on the corner of Larpenteur and Snelling in Falcon Heights, across from the MN State Fair Grounds. I also picked up some car grade vinyl. He took the materials and my seat and made a cover for me.
As a side note I pulled the build sheet before I brought the seat over to him and put in in a bag with a chunk of the gold material that used to be the seat's original interior. I later found out on these pages that the seat is out of a '68 golden anniversary truck. Anyways, 10+ years later this is what it looks like:
