Question Can someone tell me what these are?

I described them in another thread as split rims, but I'm not sure I described them accurately. From the back side they look like one piece rims. It has this strange looking ring around the front. It is also 16" not 16.5 asI stated before.

"Death waiting to happen".....yep, those are split rims and very dangerous. Alot of shops won't touch them do to the rings popping and cutting people in half. You may want to read this.... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ght=split+rims

Thanks for the confirmation

I was going to junk them anyway because they look ugly and narrow. What is the purpose of those rings? Is it to hold the bead? Is it safe to remove the ring if the tires are deflated?

I just read the link, it answers all my questions. Thanks Randy!

Usually the problem with them is when filling them bad boys with air and the ring flies off. Are you wanting to save the tires? They look like recaps. My advise is to just pitch em like they are.

No, I'm going to junk the tires and rims, I was wondering what the rings looked
like removed.
