Question Rear leaf spring Question

My 68 1/2 ton longbed is sitting on a 72 frame with rear leaf springs. My question is can i remove all of the leafs exept the mainleaf to lower the back of the truck, or am i asking for trouble?? I'm trying to see what my options are. I'm thinking about using the main leaf and some lowering shackles. I'm trying to do this on the cheap, don't really want to spend $400 or more on a pair of lowered leaf springs! What have you other guys runnin leafs done? any thoughts good or bad would be a big help! Thanks, Joseph

Re: Rear leaf spring Question

Yeah, you can remove some leaf springs to lower it. I can't really tell you how many because I'm new this stuff myself. Some other cheap options would be shackles and/or a flip kit.

Re: Rear leaf spring Question

the more leafs you remove the softer the ride . i'd think with one leaf it'd sag like crazy and b a mush machine taildragger when that leaf breaks it'll be fun
