peel and stick

Where do you guys/gals get your sound deadener from and what do you get? I went to home depot and lowes and they didn't have any. Also how much do i need? Thanks

There a few different makes out there of peel and stick sound deadener. You will have to go to or through a Car audio place to purchase or order online. Dynamat is one of the originals. If you are ok with using a 3M industrial spray adhesive you can go to lowes and they are carrying a new double sided aluminum insulator and deadener by the roll and you can get it in 18", 24", and 36" wide rolls.

i saw that have you used it? how was it if so?

I actually have it inside my doors, on my cab walls, and completely lined the underside of my hood with it. Just remember if you use it, spray both the insulator and metal with glue before sticking. My floor is completely covered with Dynomat.

didn't look there, but asked a bunch of people. is home depot peel and stick as good as dynamat or comparable?

Raammat is very good and cheaper than Dynamat. Whatever you end up buying, take some time to read the information on www.sounddeadenershowdown.com. In brief, you only need to use the metal/butyl stuff on 25-50% of the sheet metal. Anything more than that is a waste, as this material primarily serves to dampen vibration.

For sound deadening, you should put a layer of foam (I used Ensolite) on top of the mat, then finish it off with mass-loaded vinyl (a material used in construction, it is very heavy and therefore not for mail-order, you can find it at local insulation supply houses). The MLV is what really stops sound from transmitting through your cab.

I used fatmat. They come in a kit with roller and 50sq ft for $79.99. Worked great and covered floor, kick panels, and behind gas tank.

I've used FatMat a lot for recent audio installs. Its good stuff and works very well. I can usually find a good deal on it on Ebay.
