Mine was originally a 1970 Chevrolet cab and chassis C/20 with rear coils, 350 4bbl and SM465, started life as a welding truck and still is, welding rocks!
Truck has always been like this since about 1977: Grille- 71/72 Front bumper- 71/72 Left fender, was blue- 69-70 Right fender, was primer red- 69-70 Cab and everything inside- 1970 C20 Longhorn Both doors- same 1970 C20 Longhorn Bed- 69-72 8ft Fleetside Dented to hell tailgate- 69-70 chevy Fleetside Rear wrap around step bumper- 69-70 Fleetside 2 bolt 350- 1970 car? TH400- 1967 Caprice Eaton/Corp rear end- original Grandpaw welded up a headache rack and pushbumper for the truck in '78, they're still on it. Stuff I did since I got it: jr west coast mirrors-from a 67 if I remember right new(to the truck) motor mount stands- 72 GMC 3500 brake booster- 72 GMC 3500 gas tank- 70 GMC 1500 ramhorn exhaust manifolds-driver side from a '68 C10, passenger side from a '70 C10 original cast iron intake-1969-70 Quadrajet carb- from my Uncle's 76 2wd Blazer(he switched to an Edelbrock) Black dash pad- 1970 K20 burb Blue center seatbelt- 1972 cheyenne super Front wheels- 15x8 eight lug wagon wheels bought by my Dad back in the 70's Rear left wheel- stock 8 lug 16.5x9.75 steel rim from a 70's-80's 3/4 ton Rear right wheel- 16.5x9.75 8 lug wagon wheel, bought from a junkyard(still lookin for another stock rim) Story went that this old farmer had a junkyard at his farm and he put this truck together after they wrecked? the original truck. The people that owned it were good friends of the family so they gave Grandpaw a good deal on it. Frame numbers match the door VIN tag. (it was riveted on with standard aluminum rivets ).

Praise to the MUTTS. These trucks are built by there owners for there owners. Mine was frame-off, built by a friend of my father. He needed money to finish his new house so I stepped in. Truck was done well. 69 4x4 frame. C/10 cab. Crate engine. Late model axles with disc brakes. 3 on tree. I have owned and drove it for 15 years.(not my daily driver) Now I plan to add my preferences to it.

my ol man said that was the perfect song for my MUTT! I built mine out of whatever would fit, and what wouldn't fit, we made fit!! It's such a blast to drive . I get asked by guys that know these trucks, how I like my 67 GMC. I tell em it's a 72 Chevy and then the arguement starts . ahahhahaha Why build a boring , ordinary run of the mill truck, when you cam "IMPROVISE" your parts

Hey, it's all the same stuff. Just improving on GM's original design. Who cares how it's registered with the DMV.

1970 cab and long wheel base (lwb) bed.
1971 4x4 lwb chassis (with disc brakes!) 1972 Cheyenne (sp?) lf fender 1969 or 1970 grill from a swap meet. 1972 Blazer th350 and NP205 swapped in for the '71 3-speed manual & 205. 1970 drivers door (not originally from truck that cab and bed had) 1970 end gate (not originally from truck that cab and bed had) 1970 hood (not originally from truck that cab and bed had) The stock wheel I just blasted, primed, and painted has '82 stamped in it. 1968 50th anniversary bench seat (I found the build sheet in the springs). 1968 door panels and arm rests that match the seat. 1971 Monte Carlo 350, 19?? 400 crank shaft, 2004 flat top pistons, 383 cubic inches. A full set of AC brackets from across these United States that will hold my 1970 Monte AC compressor. Nobody knows where my crank and ps pulleys came from. 3 of my 6 rims (6-lug) don't fit over the disc brakes so they are pre 71. Should I stop now?
