Re: 305 v6 exhaust
I just installed a 305E into my 1964 C30 1 ton dually flatbed, and found there are no complete systems for that engine, let alone that engine in my chassis, and I couldn't find any header sets for it either, so I am using the stock exhaust manifolds.
What I will do soon is build my own 2 into 1 system. It will have two 2 inch head pipes down into one 4 inch taper down to 2-1/2 inch collector, and 2 - 1/2 inch feed pipe back to a Flow-Master muffler, and out a 2 - 1/2 inch tail pipe to behind the driver rear tires, and out the side. A lot of people build a true duals set of 2 pipes and mufflers. If I were going to do that, I would use ne of two other things in that system, either an X pipe that merges both sides, or, a [pair of cross over tubes, one in the usual location in the head pipes, and the other just behind the outlet from the mufflers. I built a system of the two cross over tubes on my 1972 Rover all aluminum V8 street car, and it worked a LOT better than a single cross over system. I am not a fan of turn downs right out of the mufflers, I like tail pipes on my vehicles. |
