Flatbed length
Decissions-descissions, I've got a 69 GMC that used to be a class B motorhome, 155'' wheel base--14k rating with the 19.5 wheels. I changed back to the 16s. Anyways the frame is hella long behind the cab--almost 11 feet. (10'-11'') I am thinking about putting a flatbed on it. I could chop about 9'' off the frame, which would give me a 10' bed or add 15 to give me a 12'. Originally I was looking for a slide deck but cannot find one short enough. I'm kinda leaning towards the chop off (truck is large enough with the duals to begin with). Any thoughts?

I can build a flatbed for you to whatever length you need for your truck. Email me at ron@corbeil-armoury.com if you want to talk further on this.

Medford is about 6-7 hours away. Hmmm. I was leaning towards something somewhat custom. I had an idea of building an aux. fuel tank behind the rear axle and mounting it to the bottom of the bed somehow. I figure between 26-30 gallons. On the side of the bed between the cab and the tires there is plenty of room for some 48'' side cabinets. I will have to go 8' wide because of the Dana 70hd I put in it. Outside of the duals across is 93-94''.
Tilt bed----nice. That 12' doesn't look that bad. Last edited by kwmech; 06-01-2005 at 11:25 PM. |

Custom is easy. E-mail me with what you want and I will design something up in my CAD package and see what you think. Yea, I am only about 6-7 hours away.
I will be moving into a bigger shop soon.
