How does the factory radio mount?
Is there anything that holds up the radio under the dash? I don't see any holes and I don't remember if there was a bracket for the original radio.

for factory radios there is a bracket that comes off the firewall

Yes, as the previous post said. there is a small bracket that attaches to the firewall just beneath the speaker. a support strap (approximately 4-5") attaches to the stud on the back of the radio and the other end attaches to the bracket. This supports the rear part of the radio. Good Luck.

There should be a bracket for the speaker mounted to the inside of the firewall just behind the radio. The radio support bracket fastens to the speaker bracket. If you truck never had a radio installed there may not be holes drilled for the speaker bracket but there are two dimples at the right locations.
Here is a picture of the speaker bracket, the support bracket is fastened to the speaker bracket on the right side. Jim |
