Casting # for 67 327.
http://webpages.charter.net/darrell1...g_numbers.html

OK I'm not so good at serial numbers but I'm getting:

T for Tonawanda plant, 11 for November, 07 for day of the month, and HC for 327 V8.

Re: Help with some engine codes?

3903352 comes back as 1967,327.
HC in 1967 comes back as a 327, 275hp, 4bbl, originally mated to a powerglide trans, in a Impala .
If you want to triple check it, get the date code off the block. It's in the same place as the casting number only on the other side of the block.

I did not know that about the sequence numbers. I learn something almost everyday on this board.

Just to be clear, the sequence number info is only good through 67 on vettes.

Re: Help with some engine codes?

Yes that's a 327. 3782870 comes back as a 327. It's a 65 and it has a partical vin, so that's a clue that it's 300 hp or more, but you need the engine ID number located to the right of 5K110514 to narrow it down even more. It starts with F, then 4 numbers, then 2 letters. It's the 2 letters at the end that we need to narrow down the application.
5K110514
5 = 1965
K = Kansas City
110514 = sequence number

Re: Help with some engine codes?

I bet there is a person out there with a 65 Corvette with VIN number ending in 110514 that might be looking for that block. You never know.

Not from Kansas City.

Corvettes were only built in St Louis during that timeframe.

That's not a corvette motor. Corvettes were all built at the same plant, so plant codes were not included in the partial vin. 65 corvette motors only had a sequence number stamped on them.(and the engine ID number)The motor above is from a passenger car/chevelle or El Camino built at Kanas City in 1965.

Re: Help with some engine codes?

So what actually is the point here?

To find any 67 model year 327 engine cast and assembled in 66-67.
To find a correct 67 C10 327 regardless of assembly date.
To find the correct assembly coded 327 to match a missing original 327 engine with a documented assembly code.

Re: Help with some engine codes?

just to help me, who is no good at deciphering engines on my endeavor of finding a 1967 327 hopefully out of a truck but doesn't need to be. And I got the rest of that code off of that 327 I found..
