4 Row Change Over Questions

Okay, I bought a 4 row radiator and the 4 row upper and lower brackets. I tried to install the lower brackets to the support, but the bracket hits at the two points indicated on the picture and will not line up with the holes to bolt it to the support.

How do I fix this problem?"

Re: 4 Row Change Over Questions

At the factory all radiator supports came prepared for a 2 or 3 core radiator, the factory then followed the recommendations of the factory assembly manual when a 4 core radiator was optioned in, the directions in assembly manual which advises you to drill out the retaining rivet on original lower 2/3 core retainer and remove it then grasp the rear vertical lip of core support where retainer would hit when installed ( using vise grips, channel locks, Etc...) and bend it downward until it is flattened then install the new 4 core retainer.

Paul is right on---my junker Blazer had an aftermarket A/C setup with 4 row radiator and the rad support was modified as described. Huck

Re: 4 Row Change Over Questions

I had to round up the 4 core supports to make this change also. Upper and lowers. Still have a used set some where .

Re: 4 Row Change Over Questions

I just put in the 4 core cradles (2 core aluminum radiator), but had to use the bigger supports. I'm sure you don't want to hear this since you have a nice new paint job that we've all been reading about, but I had to flatten out the lip just a little so they would sit down in the bottom of the core support. I used a ball pin hammer and flattened them, but I'm sure the vice grip way would work also.
