Re: how to i.d the different years.?

Just some of the differences I could find on a web search...

1967- only year for the small back window(some had a large rear window as an option.)
-had a smaller key switch bezel
-used a different set of heater controls(black face plate)
-last year for the 283 engine
-no side marker lights
-hand operated e-brake
-gmcs had letters on the grill center
-lower side trim only
-vent window handles same as the 66 and older trucks

1968-all 68 have the large rear window
-side marker light are added
-upper side trim is added
-gmc letter moved to the hood
-first year for the 396&307 engine

1969-new grill (one piece aluminum)with Chevrolet letter embossed in the center bar
-plastic grill insert is tightly spaced horizontal and vertical member in a cross hatch pattern
-park lamps mounted at the end of the Chevrolet letters in the grill
-bowtie emblem is moved to the hood
-fender emblem now state the series number and model
-engine displacement emblems mounted below the fender emblems only when equipped with optional engines
-custom trucks that had black banded lower trim
-CST had wood grain lower trim
-first year for the foot operated e-brake
-first year for the blazer
-trucks with vinyl door panels had the bowtie on there upper center(only year with this)
-first year for the 350 engine

1970-very similar to the 69 truck except the plastic grill insert has twelve groups of four short horizontal fins arranged with six stacks of fins above the center bar
-first year for the 402 engine

1971- new grill with the larger plastic insert
-bowtie is moved to the grill
-gmc has a slightly different grill
-first year for front disc brakes
-top of the line Chevy becomes Cheyenne
-park lamps on the Chevy now in the bumper
-inside rear view mirror sat on a raise pad from the roof(only year for the raised pad)
-all 71's had the disc brake sticker on the upper drivers side of the tailgate
-first year for five lug wheels

1972-rear view mirror now glued to the windshield
-new molded plastic door panels
-door had an exposed screw on the inside below the vent window

Re: how to i.d the different years.?

hmmmmm..... That site says that 70 was the first year to offer a tilt wheel. It also say in 69 all the side markers were lights not reflectors.

I have a 69 parts truck.

it had a tilt wheel I put in my 71.

also, the rear side marker lights were just reflectors. (no light holes in them) I put those on my 71 also.

I know that all this stuff could have been changed by a PO. But, is this infact true info?

Re: how to i.d the different years.?

My '69 had reflectors only. And I KNOW grandpa did not change them out.
