Re: engine mount question??

I just went through this yesterday. I swapped in a complete 81 front end into a 68 and found out that the standard V8 towers were too tall and too wide to fit this combination. I decided that the best way to fix this was to make a V8 simulator and then use it to reshape the towers.

For the towers, I had to heat the bottoms cherry red and hammer the dimple out of the bottom to lower the bottom part and then I cut off 1/2 inch off the top end.
It was really helpful to be able to use the V8 simulator bracket to check the fit as I went.

Re: engine mount question??

I used almost the exact same setup while fabbing the mounts for my 5.3L. Worked way better than installing and removing the actual engine 50 times to verify measurements and fitment.
