5 lug all around swap for '69 GMC???

Hey guys-

I am wanting to swap my '69 GMC to 5 lug axles all the way around. It currently has discs on the front and leaf spring rear. I believe the ratio to be 3.73 as it was originally a 6 cyl truck. I am most liekly going to be converting the TH350 to a 700r4 as well so wanted to get ideas on how best to approach the entire project. Front, rear, posi, ratios..etc. Thanks for the help

Simplest is to get the rear out of a 71/72 Chevy/GMC 1/2 ton and bolt it in. You can also go with a 73-87 model rear also. In eith case since your's is a leaf spring truck, you'll need to move the spring mounts on the newer axle, unless you got lucky enough to find a 71/72 that was leaf sprung

Even more simple --- Denton --close to home. $30 bucks per rear axle shaft to turn flanges down at the machine shop --take a 5 lug drum with you to machine shop. You will need 10 each 1/2" x 1.25" long studs--- I suggest 1.25" long just in case you need a 1/4 spacer for some reason later-- maybe not. And we can drill them at the house on my jig -- bring beer. All the rest of your existing rear brakes will work. -- All you need to haul are the 2 axles and a drum.

I have 2 --5 lug rotors that I would probably trade for your 2 good 6 lugs.
