Super low mileage original 71 on ebay

At least that's the claim. Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...DLVI%26ps%3D54

At least I know what mine will look like if I decide to paint it solid red. Since I'm such a bone stock nut I have to ask if the gas cap was originally painted to match the truck, or should it be black or chrome?

Thanks! I had no idea. What about the door panel trim? On my truck they are painted the cab color, but on the eBay truck they look to be either chrome or painted silver.

The originals holding steel inner panels are a matte silver color as shown in the pics on ebay. The only painted ones I've seen have been due to repaints (again, my observation only). On trucks with Vinyl covering the steel, those top hold-down strips are chrome

That's why it's so great to see a truck like that! I like my base model truck and want to keep the things that make it different like the non chrome door panel trim and the black vent wings. Like I said, my door panel trims are currently painted cab color, but I'm pretty sure things were touched up inside once upon a time. There are a couple of runs in the dash paint that lead me to believe that. I'd like to think that QC at the Flint plant was a little better than to let a truck out the door with runs in the dash paint!

Wow, the pictures nicely document what these trucks looked like off the assembly line.

Re: Super low mileage original 71 on ebay

It's hard to imagine that a truck almost 40 years old has been driven so few miles.

It looks legit to me though.

Re: Super low mileage original 71 on ebay

My truck is just as original, but not nearly as nice. I'm going to save the photos from the listing as reference for fixing up my truck since they are so similar.

Very nice truck...It seems like everytime a low milage truck or car is found it is always a base vehicle? Maybe its just me. Still a very nice original truck.

What exactly bothers you about it? Do you think it's been repainted?

Re: Super low mileage original 71 on ebay

the metal dash top should match the dash pad in color, and be done in a flat paint.
I would speculate, the top of the dash has been cleaed agressivly causing the flap black to start wearing away, and the red underneath it is starting to show through.

Paste this link. I have watched this unit go from MN to CA to CO to wI. It has had more miles going between buyers. I originally saw this on Ebay in December 2005. Sold for just under $12K. I called on it but I could not get enough information out of them to buy it sight unseen. The widows brother was helping her sell it. I would be a player at $18K.

Well documented down to the hand written order form, POP and window sticker.

Or is it a reflection of the hood being up an reflecting on shiny stuff?

I think it's cool that it shows the correct placement of the Disc Brakes decal on the tailgate. For some reason I would have thought it would have been on a lower corner, not an upper.
