Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
I am almost to the point or getting new tires and I need to paint the rims or have them powder coted. I was originaly thinking of doing them body color but I have been told to stay with a stock Argent grey. Not sure what will look best. Any thought's? And new rims are not an option I like the ralleys on this build.
Thankis for your input. Kevin LFD Inc. |

I vote for stock color. What size tire and wheels are on the truck?

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
I think the color of the truck would be best add a little more pop to the wheels. But I have been wrong before

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
White (which would probably be hard to keep clean) or the stock grey. Although I have to admit it would be nice to see something shiny to compliment that sidetrim and beautiful paintjob .

Bright silver, and white letter tires would be a nice touch as well.

I vote silver for the ralleys. If you had stock steel wheels I would go body color and stainless dogdish hubcaps, You know the copo look.

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
i dont think body color would look good. ive struggled with this also. i wanted to do sumthn alil different with mine, but i keep goin back to the silver/grey , it jsut doesnt get any better than that. you want the wheels on any ride to compliment the ride...not take from it. thats why i dont like big rims on these trucks. the trucks boarder perfect-ness and slapn some uber-flashy wheels on them takes away from the truck , and as a whole(granted the wheels may be nice) it doesnt work.. slap some new beauty rings, centers and fresh silver paint and let er rip..noce truck and i like the subtle body mods.

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
the demons are keeping me up at night too.......i would go with white and paint the center piece(chevy logo) color of the truck body, and highly polish the trim ring.
but what do i know i just bought a set of red steelies. when i just painted a set of 7in steelies jet black. after i painted another set army flat green..........so hope i didnt add to your delimea. |

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
Just my opinion,... but silver is THE only color for the ralleys. Argent silver or any other type of flat or semi-gloss silver would be perfect for your truck.

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
Kevin.....my 2 cents.
I'd go the same color as the truck and then get some "hot rod" type trims rings....the skinny ones that show the rim on either side...try Stockton Wheels or Wheel Vintiques. I like silver ralleys as much as the next guy but I don't think the silver contrasts enough with the light Blue. BTW......truck is looking great! You gonna put some driving lights in that bumper or....?

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
For your truck, the stock silver/gray (whatever it is) would look the best.
I like body colored on some, but I don't think it would go with the color of yours.

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
Corvette rims look best silver than body color and those are close to corvette rims.Paint 2 on one side silver and 2 on the other side body color and repost a poll to see which one the guys like best.

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
Argent silver on the truck rally. Body color w/ a steel wheel or the vette style rally. You can also mix up the center cap on the truck rally or the vette rally. I used the stock centers on a vette rally on my Dad's 90 truck. It looks different but also gives a little old school to the newer body. JMO.

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
If it were mine, I'd paint them satin or gloss black (whatever your headlight trim is done in) and run with the trim rings and centers in chrome . You would draw the eye up to the railroad mouldings and the rest of the truck and would still tie-in with the rest of the truck's theme.
....just the .002 cents artist in me. |

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
With all the subtle changes you have done to this beauty, it wouldnt be right with stock silver colored rims. Paint them to match the body! Love that color!

The wife and I both agree, WHITE, which will be a really nice contrast with the roof.
