speaking of 427,s
I might have a chance to get a goodwrench 427 talldeck out of a 72 c60 will it fit in a 71 c10 will a 87 - 700r4 bolt up. has anybody ever done it. how many mods will it take. (motor mounts- exhaust-) what parts do i need off the donor truck. any and all info will be greatly appreciated. thanks biglou.

Aside from the cool name factor, expect dog-like performance from the engine. A lot of the high perf parts that fit on the light truck and car big blocks do not fit on the tall deck Mark IV's.

It'll fit, everything will bolt up, the 700R4 may last a little while, but it will suck.
You'll spend more on mild performance parts to make it as fast as a stock small block, than you would spend to get a correct (non tall deck) big block. Yes, you can build a 'mountian motor' out of this engine, but it would be cheaper to get the 502/502 from your dealer. |

Yeah, but by the time you spend the $$ to make one bullit proof, you coulda bought a gear vendors unit, and be stronger...not to mention, have even more tire chirping gears top play with.

IIRC,in order to use aftermarket pistons,you need to get rods that are a hair longer.The distributor is a little longer.You need a spacer to install a normal big block intake.All these parts are easy to find,but as mentioned earlier,it ads to the price of a build up.Tall decks are mostly used for the big stroker kits.If you want one,go for it.If you don't,drop it off at my shop and I'll give it a home.

Not to mention the custom headers if you decide to go that route. Stock exhaust manifolds will work I believe. Heck, I have not had stock manifolds on anything in so long I forget what interchanges
They do make excellent stroker engines though
