Wheel fitment backspacing need help

I am looking at some wheels made by a fairly new company called Showwheels. Was wondering if these backspace numbers sound right. 18X9 for the back 5.25 back space for the front 18X8 4.5 back space. Some input would be great I am hoping these will work they are a pretty good price. Sorry truck is a 72 what has everybody else been using for their backspace I just stay with 18X8 front and back if it makes life easier

Re: Wheel fitment backspacing need help

i think the back will be ok, even if you have the narrower 67-70 rear end. i dont think the fronts will tuck inside your fenderwells. one of the experts will chime in on this with more detailed info.

Re: Wheel fitment backspacing need help

I found 5.25" backspace to be too much in rear, back tires (275) would just rub on inner tub on my '69.

I think the back will be fine as long as your truck has the wider 71-72 rearend.
For the front,... I personally,... would rather have a 5" BS on a 8" wide wheel.

You have to compare "apples-to-apples" here.
I "assume" your '69 has the narrower rearend housing?
(3/4" narrower per side)
This will definitely affect wheel bs numbers.
And so would fleetside vs. stepside beds.

loloife, you right of course. I had assumed from the OP's name his was a '70, narrow rear.

You could be right.
I thought I remembered it being a 71-72 truck.
Plus most of the ShowWheels wheels are 5-lug.
Again,... assuming because I don't have enough info in the original post.

Truck is a 72 I would consider 18X8 front and back if it makes life easier. What would the backspace be then for both

That would be your best bet. Would you run the same size tire front and back? Gotta remember, when running bigger tires in back you can forget tire rotation.

Re: Wheel fitment backspacing need help

If both the 9s and the 8s are 5 1/4 backspace, those rears are sitting out noticably further, not bad just depends if that's what you'd' like. I overall like the 8/9 combination, just prefer added backspace for the 9s.

Re: Wheel fitment backspacing need help

Wheels with the same BS will make the front wheel track width wider,... because the front suspension is wider than the rearend from the factory.
That's why alot of people use 8's and 10's to help hide the fact that the front end is wider than the rearend.
