How hard of a swap???
A buddy of mine wrecked his 94 chevy truck recently and has offered his engine, tranny and complete rearend to me. The truck has a 383 stroker he built along with a 4L80-E with the 5 lug rear with posi and all wiring and computer all in great shape for $1500. How hard would it be to swap? Also his truck is a short bed and im lwb...
Sorry been in the Subaru scene for over ten years, this would be my first Chevy swap.. Thought price was good.. thanks for any input. Thanks Eric

Re: How hard of a swap???
if yor truck was a 350 then mainly you will have to have the drive shaft cut and the computer reflashed I think.

Thanks for the response Tinkermc. This is a good price for all this right? Eric (Evaded)

Re: How hard of a swap???
$1500 For the engine, transmission, rear end, computer and wiring, is a good deal if it was running without smoke or noise. Was it drivable after the accident? I have seen auto trans break inside after an accident. With out pictures, as far as the A/C, as long as the new engine has the accessory holes in the head, it should bolt up. A 350 and 383 are identical on the outside.

Re: How hard of a swap???
The 94 has lwb and serpentine drive if still stock. Does your truck have the stock swp still? I would advise leaving the stock lwp serpentine drive and having some custom hoses made to connect the 94 compressor. Does the 94 still have tbi? if so Most of your work is going to invve swapping all of the wiring and computer over to make the engine and trans work.
Do tou have coil or leaf springs in your truck now? The 94 is leaf. Since you mention 4l80e, it must be a 3/4 ton (8 lug) in the 94 (?). You really arent gaining anything in swapping in the 94 rear as it isnt a bolt in no matter what. I wod skip that and make an offer on the engine trans only. |
