Any photos of Blazer speaker bracket?

Hey Members, a friend has what he thinks is original dash speaker mounting bracket for K5. Anyone knows how to identify one or have photos?
Thanks in advance.

Talking

DANL,

I am not sure if this is factory, but my son's Blazer came with this speaker mounting.

Jim,

Mine is mounted in precisely the same way, and I still have the factory AM radio. Another vote for that being the correct bracket.

That's weird. Never seen one of those. My Jimmy had a speaker in the dash just like my pickup.

Mounting a speaker there doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I wonder too why its not in the dash. My GMC has holes in about those same places, were these drilled into every dash or was it stupid p/o being retarded?

The picture is correct and original, Blazers/Jimmys had a dash without speaker holes/grill and mounted the speaker below the dash for correct sound when the top is off.

However!!!!! I have heard a lot of people on this board say their blazer/jimmy had a truck dash with speaker holes. Probably one of those times when GM used whatever parts they had available.

Originally, Blazers had the speaker mounted under the dash as the picture shows. Remember that this was designed as a topless vehicle. I think they were afraid that water would get in the speaker mounted in the top of the dash. A bunch of '72s came with regular truck dashes with the speaker in the normal truck position. They may have been using up stock of truck dashes, plus by then GM realized that every Blazer/Jimmy was being sold with a top anyway, and people rarely took them off.

COuld dash mount

So a dash mounted speaker on a 72 could be original. That will work for me sine my K5 has the truck dash.
