Re: got it hooked up

The tv cable on my truck attaches to a bracket bolted to the rearmost pair of manifold bolts, I'll post a picture later.

Re: got it hooked up

There are two types of tv cables. One for the bracket on the back of the carb and one for the manifold bracket. I don't know which application is which, but you look to have the wrong cable for your bracket.

Re: got it hooked up

I believe that once you hook up the cable you can adjust the length of the cable by dropping the pan.

Bowtie overdrives had a walkthrough on how to do this a while back.

Re: got it hooked up

I would return it and spend the money at bow tie overdrives, Go to there site and you'll see they know what they are dealing with. In some areas, summit or jegs is no better than pep boys or auto zone.. and this is one of those areas IMO.
If you don't get that sucker 100% dead on right, you'll have a 700R4 paper weight in 20,000 miles or less.

Re: got it hooked up

They are correct above the cables came in two lenghts and either hooked at back of carb bracket, or manifold bracket. Then you push down on the cable release to adjust the travel lenght to wide open throttle. If it's not right it will not shift correctly, and will not have kickdown either. Get it right or it will ruin the trans like Longhorn man says

Also the alignment is probably due to an Edelbrock being wider than a Q-jet and not as deep!

Re: got it hooked up

Skip, the TV cable can do the job close enough to feel right, to even the mose educated person, however, when you start throwing aftermarket parts into the mix, you need to make sure it is dead on 100% right. The kit that bow tie overdrives sells includes the tools to make sure the throttle valve is increasing the line pressure the moment you touch the throttle. if it doesn't, it may feel fine, but it'll be in self destruct mode.
Stock adjusting for stock set ups...this isn't a stock set up.

Re: got it hooked up

I agree...but the trans is stock...I think he said? If it is you would adjust the detent the same way...or if not why not?

Re: got it hooked up

no, the carb, intake, cable bracket, cable...they all need to match each other.
If you have one piece that is non stock, it can throw the factory calculations out of whack. Kinda like once you install a hi performance cam, the factory spark plug number can be thrown out the window.
