Steering Column Help
Under the hood on the steering column what is the part called that the column rotates and lands onto when shifting. This is worn out in my truck and its causing me gears to slip into another gear, from reverse into drive and also wont hold second? Please and thank you.

Re: Steering Column Help
I believe it is called the selector plate.
The truck my son and I are redoing had the same problem. The plate's tabs or tangs were extremely worn down. So badly if you slammed the driver's door closed the shifter would drop from park to reverse. Not good. Rather than finding a replacement or having it rebuilt, we opted to upgrade to a rebuilt factory tilt column.
