Ok, I found out that my horn isn't shorting out in the column... I can't see any obvious shorts, and hints of things to be looking at? Even with all my column horn stuff taken out, the horn still goes off after putting a fuse in...

This is really bugging me, and I don't wanna trace every single wire till I find the problem...

Not to steal the post or anything but I have a similar problem. I think my horn went out when my clock and radio did too. Where do these three come together? I'm thinking I might have a fuse blown out somewhere but I cant find it.

Its in the fuse box. My stereo and horn were on the same connection as well. I would guess thats where it fused togther on me.

I checked the fuses in the fuse box and I couldn't find a blown one, but I'll look again to make sure.

Russell,

I can't imagine that the short would be any place OTHER than the column. The circuit runs from the fuse to the column, then to the horns.

To break it down, if the horn blows, it MUST be getting voltage. This could be either through the horn circuit, or a second hot wire shorted with the horn circuit between the column switch and the horn. But if this were the case, the horn would be blowing constantly, even if the horn fuse were removed.

Have you tried pulling the connector that connects the column harness (i.e. the turn signal) to the rest of the car? I'll BET that if you do that, the problem goes away.

If I'm right, I think there's a problem with the turn signal harness. I would suggest replacing the signal -- they usually run around $30. The wires for everything at the top of the column are part of this switch.

Hmm... Thats a good possiblity, I'll pull the rest of the column apart tonight, I need to take it off to straighten my steering wheel out anyways. I'll also replace that little plastic peice that I hot glued together earlier while I am at it...

The horn blows when grounded.there is constant power to the horn relay.Horn blows when the relay is grounded,completeing the circut.
Take a jumper wire,ground it then take the other end and touch the ground terminal on the horn relay.The horn should blow.
You'll then know it's the ground wire that runs up the coloum.

That's a little easier than disassembling your steering coloum.:p

Hehe, thanks for the advice, but I figured this out out a little while ago

It was actually the horn relay at fault, the little metal strip had fused itself together, so I just took the relay apart and reset it filing it down a little bit, no problems since
