Crossmember

I was looking in this sept street truck and turner enterprise sells a crossmeber for our trucks that will lower it more. Anybody know about this mod. How does it lower it. and what about ground cleareance? How much lower would my front end sit with that and my bags aired out. If it looks like the one thats in in the ad then why body drop?

No but I remember reading a post a while back how someone cut there crossmember to lower there truck. Sorry not enough info.

I notched my crossmember 1.5" so frame rails sit down into the crossmember. Since the wheels are attached to the spindles, attached to the A arms. They move up while the frame stays. This allows a 1.5" drop with no change in steering geometry. That and 2.5" drop spindles (again, no change in geometry) and 2" drop springs gives you 6" drop with minimal effect to steering geometry. If I had to do it again, I would seriously think about a Mustang II style crossmember. It's alot of work. Though the new plasma cutter would make in much, much easier.

You have any pictures, how hard was it? Did your motor mounts have to be adjusted? Was there any hang ups?

The kit Turners sells come w/cut-down motor mount towers( or they did last fall when I spoke w/Bill Turner). The pros would be it's basically a bolt in & since you are raising the cross member up in relation to the framerails you actually don't lose any ground clearance from the suspension.

Haven't put the engine in yet. I've cut the motor towers down by 1.5" and built plates to bolt to the crossmember. Once I decide where I want to put the motor, I'll weld those plates to the cut down towers. Hopefully soon, I'll have my website up and I'll put pics on it.
